T1 Walking Tour of Kananaskis Village: Development and Reconstruction in Alberta Parks

This walking tour will focus on the area around the hotel course on the Village Rim Trail (see the link below). Maria will stop at each of the viewpoints and speak to a different aspect (Nordic Spa Development, Intro to Alberta Parks, the Kananaskis River and the floods, etc.). This will be a relatively relaxing, but informative, walk for the early birds!

T2 Living with Wildlife: Planning for Wildlife and Human Use Management — Canmore and Bow Valley

Healthy, thriving wildlife populations are an important objective for most communities. Wildlife affect our environmental, social and economic fabric. Canmore has strived, and at times struggled, to balance people and wildlife living together. Come hear Canmore’s story about its journey toward establishing wildlife corridors and habitat patches and human use management practices. Participants will tour a wildlife underpass, learn planning processes and human use initiatives that they can implement in their own communities and have free time to explore the Canmore Nordic Centre on mountain bike or downtown Canmore on foot.
